First Lady Jane Beshear joined Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Marcheta Sparrow and Department for Local Government (DLG) Commissioner Tony Wilder to announce more than $1.8 million in grants to local communities to develop and maintain recreational trails across Kentucky. February 15, 2012. Powell County was awarded a Recreational Trails Program matching $100k grant to build mountain biking trails in the county. This money will go toward the purchase of land for the trails and the establishment of the trails. This is a part of our ongoing effort to become a trail town!
