Terri Alderman to join TOUR SEKY board

REDBUD MONTH ACTIVITES PLANNED ACROSS SOUTHERN AND EASTERN KENTUCKY
April is Redbud Month in Southern and Eastern Kentucky. Many exciting events are planned throughout April in celebration of the native Redbud Tree.
April 2, 2012: Redbud Health Awareness Walk from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm (ET) at the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in Renfro Valley, KY. The first 500 registered participants will receive Redbud seedlings, tote bags, free lunch from Subway and other gifts and prizes. Free health screenings will also be available. TWO TOUR SEKY STAFF COMPLETE GRANTS MANAGEMENT CERTFICATE PROGRAM
Two TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) staff members recently completed certification tracks through The Grants Management Certificate Program.
Michelle King, CPA, TOUR SEKY Chief Financial Officer completed the program’s Federal Track. King participated in eight different classes to complete the certification. Courses in the program included Federal Assistance Law, Appropriations Law and Advanced Cost Principals. This is King’s third certification through The Grants Management Program. She was previously certified in the Pass-Through Track and the Recipient Track. Read more »
TOUR SEKY PRESIDENT/CEO INVITED TO JOIN INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF TRAVEL AND TOURISM PROFESSIONALS
TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky President/CEO Jeff Crowe is now a member of Skal International USA (SIUSA). Skal International is a professional organization of tourism leaders around the world, promoting Global Tourism, networking and Business to Business opportunities. Skal is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry. It has 72 clubs in the United States representing 3,200 members, 45 of those in Kentucky. TOUR SEKY ANNOUNCES 2011 GOVERNMENTAL TOURISM IMPACT AWARD WINNER
TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) awarded the Governmental Tourism Impact Award to Gail Wright, Executive Director of the Gateway Area Development District (Gateway ADD). Wright received the award during TOUR SEKY’s 11th Annual Tourism Forum November 29, 2011. Read more »
TERRI ALDERMAN RECEIVES SHINING STAR OF THE YEAR AWARD
TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) hosted its 11th Annual Tourism Forum November 29, 2011 at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset, KY. The theme was “Tourism-It’s a Jungle Out There.” During the event, Terri Alderman, Morehead Tourism Director, was awarded the “Shining STAR of the Year” award. The “Shining STAR (service, training, achievement, and recognition) of the Year” award winner goes to an individual that boasts great customer service in their community and passes on their knowledge and training to the region. BARNETT NAMED TOUR SEKY 2011 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) named Craig Barnett, Vice President of Public Relations at Renfro Valley Entertainment Center as its 2011 Rookie of the Year. Barnett received the award November 29, 2011 during TOUR SEKY’s 11th Annual Tourism Forum. Read more »
Mounce named 2011 APEX winner!
TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) awarded the APEX Award to Carolyn Mounce during its 11th Annual Tourism Forum November 29, 2011. Mounce is the Executive Director of the Somerset-Pulaski County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).
APEX stands for Achievement, Professionalism, Excellence, and X-traordinary in tourism.
Mounce was chosen for this award because of her tireless efforts to improve tourism opportunities not only in Pulaski County, but throughout the entire Lake Cumberland Region. Read more »
SOMERSET’S CAROLYN MOUNCE NAMED KTIA MEMBER OF THE YEAR
TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) Volunteer and Somerset-Pulaski County Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Carolyn Mounce, was named Member of the Year at the Kentucky Travel Industry Association’s (KTIA) Annual Fall Conference on Tourism.
