TERRI ALDERMAN RECEIVES SHINING STAR OF THE YEAR AWARD

TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) hosted its 11th Annual Tourism Forum November 29, 2011 at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset, KY. The theme was “Tourism-It’s a Jungle Out There.” During the event, Terri Alderman, Morehead Tourism Director, was awarded the “Shining STAR of the Year” award. The “Shining STAR (service, training, achievement, and recognition) of the Year” award winner goes to an individual that boasts great customer service in their community and passes on their knowledge and training to the region. Mounce named 2011 APEX winner!

TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) awarded the APEX Award to Carolyn Mounce during its 11th Annual Tourism Forum November 29, 2011. Mounce is the Executive Director of the Somerset-Pulaski County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).

APEX stands for Achievement, Professionalism, Excellence, and X-traordinary in tourism.
Mounce was chosen for this award because of her tireless efforts to improve tourism opportunities not only in Pulaski County, but throughout the entire Lake Cumberland Region. Read more »

The issue features fall favorites including readers pick for best getaways and festivals, “Exploring Autumn in Appalachia” and “10 things you’ve always wanted to learn”. Pine Mountain State Resort Park, Pineville was one of five getaways featured in the “Reader Retreats” article. “10 Things You’ve Always Wanted to Learn” tells readers where to go to learn everything from Fly Fishing to making pottery. TOUR SEKY PRESIDENT/CEO RE-APPOINTED TO KTIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

– TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOUR SEKY) President/CEO, Jeff Crowe, was re-appointed to the Kentucky Travel Industry Association’s (KTIA) Board of Directors on October 18, 2011.

Crowe, who has been with TOUR SEKY since 2003 and was named President/CEO in 2008, will serve on the KTIA board through October 2014. “I am deeply humbled my peers nominated me to be re-appointed to the KTIA Board of Directors,” said Crowe. “The association touches every corner of the state from Paducah to Pikeville and it is truly an honor to be a part of this growing association.” Read more »
